Nicole is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology, the Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program (INP), and in the George & Anne Ryan Institute for Neuroscience at URI. She completed her Ph.D. in Psychology at Northeastern University, in the Center for Cognitive and Brain Health. Before that, she received her M.S. in Psychology, and a B.S. double-majoring in Psychology & Exercise Sciences, at The University of Auckland in New Zealand. Nicole's research investigates the effects of health factors such as physical activity, fitness, and adiposity, on mental health, cognition, and brain structure and function throughout the lifespan. Outside the lab, she can be found coaching water polo, watching basketball, attending group fitness classes, running, and enjoying the outdoors.

PhD Student | KIN
Haley is a doctoral student in the Health Sciences PhD program at URI. She graduated from Bridgewater State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and a Master of Science in Exercise Science with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning. In addition to her studies, she currently runs the Pediatric Cardiopulmonary Lab at Hasbro Children’s Pediatric Heart Center. Her research interests are in looking into the psychophysiological effects of exercise in children with congenital heart diseases. Outside of her academic and research responsibilities, Haley enjoys weightlifting and spending time with her family.
Kane Woods (he/him)
Master's Student | INP
Kane is a master's student in the University of Rhode Island's Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program. He recently graduated from Trinity College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience, with a concentration in systems and behavior. Kane is also a proud member of Nu Rho Psi, the national honors society in neuroscience. His research interests include but are not limited to the intersection between brain dysfunction and its effect on human behavior and cognitive performance. In addition to his studies, he is certified and practicing EMT in the state of Connecticut, working in tandem with other first responders to make the community he serves safe.
